Chronic Pain

Posted on September 1, 2019

For the past 3 years, I’ve been struggling with chronic pain in my body. Mostly emanating from the area around my right shoulder blade, but also a pain in collar bone area, spine, shoulders. And then random bits of pain in my knees, wrists, hands, feet.

I’ve had many doctors’ appointments and tests. Including MRI, Xray, blood tests, Saliva tests, etc.. I’ve met with several neurologists, rheumatologists, pain specialists, orthopedics, chiropractors, paleontologists, and many others.

No known cause was found. I’ve tried treating the pain with a variety of drugs (yay?), diets, non-traditional medicines, and eastern/western practices.

I never received an official diagnosis and never found a consistent source of relief.

It MIGHT have NOTHING to do with cancer, or it might have everything to do with cancer. That remains to be seen.

NOTE: If it wasn’t obvious, this post was written after my cancer diagnosis. I decided to go back and add these details to give myself and others a better idea of my medical history leading up to diagnosis.

“Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.”

–Kahlil Gibran, On Joy and Sorrow
