Diagnosis Day

Posted on November 7, 2019

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! ENT called with pathology results from the larger lymph node removed from my neck. Diagnosis: Medullary Thyroid Cancer. MTC for the cool kids in the know.

A rare form of thyroid cancer. It can be aggressive and difficult to treat. My ENT recommended that I see a specialist because so few doctors encounter this type of cancer.

Couldn’t it just be some normal cancer? Stupid hipster cancer.

At least I finally know what I’m up against.

Next step: More tests, talking to insurance, finding a doctor, researching treatment, and (my favorite) more waiting.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.”
