Mike Wazowski

**UPDATE – CT Scan was rescheduled for tomorrow (Jan 10th)**

I wanted to give a quick update on how my appointment went yesterday. This was my first appointment since I started Cometriq. Unfortunately, it’s still too early to tell if it is working, so not much to report on that end.

I thought that maybe some of the recent changes I’ve experienced were a sign that the Cometriq was working, but after giving my doctor a rundown of all my current symptoms, she seemed more concerned than optimistic. She decided that it would be a good idea for me to get a CT Scan of my throat and chest ASAP (today) to “see what the cancer is doing.” This conjures an image of a bunch of little cancer monsters hanging out by the pool. Am I the only one who pictures my cancer cells as a bunch of little brown Mike Wazowskis? (Yes, I went through the trouble of making that graphic, and it was totally worth it… And I have nothing better to do.)

We were already planning to get CT Scans done about 6 weeks after the start of Cometriq, so we don’t expect to see any major progress (if any) from the medication. It has been over a month since my last CT Scan so I’m very interested in finding out what’s happened since then. They are also scanning my chest so I might get more info about those “suspicious” spots in my lungs, too.

How’s Matt Today?

A new fun symptom to add to the list. I’m losing feeling in some areas on the right side of my neck. I only notice when I touch the area, but it has that weird my-foots-asleep-numbness but on my neck. My chronic pain has been really kicking up in my chest and upper back. Like real bad. I’ve been feeling more discomfort in my throat and my voice is a little weaker. Other than that – everything is great! Just kidding – I still have cancer. 😀

Next Steps

I will get my CT Scans this afternoon. Not sure when I’ll get the results, but will definitely post an update when I know anything. More lab work next Friday (Jan 17th) and then another follow-up with my doctor on January 21st.
